New York virtual care

Women's hair-loss evaluation and ongoing care.

A private virtual visit for women experiencing hair shedding or thinning. Care starts by understanding the concern, because treatment is not one-size-fits-all. Visits are available to eligible patients located in New York State at the time of their appointment.

Thoughtful assessment

Hair shedding and thinning can have different causes.

Your history sets the direction

The visit begins with your symptoms, health history, medications, relevant life stage, and the scalp or hair pattern you are noticing. This helps guide the conversation rather than treating every kind of hair loss as the same.

Virtual care is considered, not assumed

The clinician reviews whether a virtual visit is an appropriate setting for your concern. An in-person examination, dermatology evaluation, testing, or another next step may be recommended when it would better support your care.

Ongoing care can stay individualized

When follow-up is appropriate, visits can make room to review changes, questions, tolerability, and whether the current plan still fits. A virtual consultation does not promise a diagnosis, prescription, hair regrowth, or a particular outcome.

What may be considered

Topical minoxidil may be part of the conversation when clinically appropriate.

For certain women with female pattern hair loss, topical minoxidil is an evidence-based, FDA-approved option that may be discussed when appropriate. Whether any treatment fits depends on your evaluation, health history, and the concern being assessed.

Topical minoxidil

An evidence-based option for certain pattern hair loss.

FDA labeling includes women's topical minoxidil for female pattern hair loss. A visit is a place to discuss whether an approved topical option is appropriate for you. It is not appropriate for every diagnosis and does not promise hair regrowth.

Scalp care and selected discussions

Care for the scalp, then consider what fits.

Ketoconazole shampoo may be considered when dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, or scalp inflammation is relevant. It is a scalp-care option, not a proven standalone hair-regrowth treatment. Low-dose oral minoxidil may also be discussed for selected patients based on emerging clinical evidence; it is off-label for hair loss and requires individualized medical review.

Treatment expectations

Care plans remain measured and individualized.

Follow-up

The plan can change as the picture becomes clearer.

When appropriate, follow-up visits review changes, questions, tolerability, and whether the plan still fits.

Prescriptions

Only when appropriate, and sent where you choose.

If clinically appropriate after an individualized New York virtual evaluation, a prescription can be sent to your chosen pharmacy. Virtual care does not promise a diagnosis, prescription, or outcome.

When in-person evaluation may be better

Some hair-loss concerns need a closer look.

Sudden or patchy loss, scalp pain, redness, scaling, signs of infection, or a concern for scarring deserve an in-person examination or dermatology referral. Telehealth cannot diagnose every hair or scalp condition.

Pregnancy or postpartum concerns, or symptoms suggesting a broader or urgent health issue, deserve the right in-person evaluation. Do not wait for a routine hair-loss visit for urgent concerns. For an emergency, call 911 or seek emergency care.

Questions, answered carefully

Frequently asked questions.

Is minoxidil FDA approved?

Topical minoxidil is FDA approved for certain women with female pattern hair loss. Whether it is appropriate for you requires an individualized clinical evaluation, and it is not expected to address every cause of shedding or thinning.

Could oral minoxidil be part of my care?

Low-dose oral minoxidil may be discussed in selected patients based on emerging clinical evidence. It is off-label for hair loss and is considered only after an individualized review of your health history and goals.

Can a prescription be sent to my local pharmacy?

If a prescription is clinically appropriate after your individualized New York virtual evaluation, it can be sent to the local pharmacy you choose. A prescription is never guaranteed.

Can a virtual visit treat every type of hair loss?

No. Some hair-loss patterns or scalp symptoms need an in-person examination, testing, dermatology input, or another care setting. Whether virtual care is appropriate is part of the visit's initial assessment.
